Software Engineer
We are looking for a superstar Software Engineer to join the team building our groundbreaking online financial products and services for managing weather risk. Candidates will use their strong engineering/analytical skills and personal drive to further innovate and maintain leadership in our new and fast-growing industry.
Who You Are:

- At least two years of experience developing with Java, Python or Ruby

European Business Development, Travel industry
We are looking for a superstar Business Development executive to join the team to drive our efforts in the European Travel market. Candidates will use their extensive network of contacts in the European Travel industry, along with their experience structuring and negotiating business development deals, to negotiate, and manage distribution partnerships. The ideal candidate will have deep travel insurance expertise, having managed travel insurance programs for OTAs, retailers, or agencies, or has held a senior level business development role at a major European travel company, with direct experience managing third-party relationships and/or add-on products.
This role is ideally suited for mid- to senior- level (7+ years experience) candidates with a strong desire to join an early stage organization with the ability to make an immediate impact on the business, and ready to commit a huge amount to making the absolute most of a massive opportunity and participate in equity upside as the organization grows.
Who You Are:
- 7 years+ experience in the Travel industry in Europe as a sales or business development executive
- Ideally, significant experience with travel insurance products
- Experience with third party product add-ons sold through travel partners
- Experience sourcing, negotiating, and closing partnership and distribution deals
- Smart, analytical, and extremely talented sales personality with a willingness to hit the phones and travel extensively to close deals
- Self-motivated, hard-working, eager to hit the phone and create deals that can garner mass distribution of weather coverage products
- Must speak English and at least one other language fluently
- Quantitative-minded with a solid understanding of finance, statistics and risk management.
What You'd Do:
- Leverage your extensive network of contacts in the European travel market to distribute weather coverage products to consumers
- Structure and arrange the requisite legal and regulatory facilities to ensure local compliance of weather coverage products offered
- Starting, qualifying, pursuing, negotiating and implementing deals will be the majority of the role
- Manage partner relationships, ensuring they are receiving adequate support to deliver on financial targets

Quantitative Risk Manager
WeatherBill is looking for a talented and motivated Quantitative Researcher to join our quantitative team in building our real-time pricing and risk management platform, conduct research on statistical, financial, and meteorological topics to further develop our systems and models, and participate in trading and execution of weather contracts with clients. In addition to these core engineering and research efforts, you will work closely with sales, business development, and product teams to spec out future features and manage client-specific research efforts.
This role provides an experienced quantitative finance engineering professional with a new challenge - WeatherBill has built the world's first real-time 2-year forward weather simulation system. The simulation system powers a real-time pricing and risk management platform, that is certainly at the forefront of a burgeoning and unique asset class - weather. We are trying to grow this potentially $3Trillion+ industry by applying technology to enable simpler, faster, more automated and more efficient transfer of weather risk.
Who You are:
- 2+ years quantitative experience, ideally in a financial, actuarial, or statistics role
- Strong analytical/quantitative background or training at a financial services firm, hedge fund, research group, or insurance firm
- Experience developing quantitative systems with at least one of the following: Matlab, C++, R, or Java, SAS/STAT
- Interest in joining a small growing firm that is part hedge fund, part startup
- Graduate from top-tier university, with a degree in math, statistics, physical sciences, or related
- Preferred: Masters or PhD in same
- Preferred: Trading desk experience
- Preferred: Experience managing a team developing trading algorithms or pricing / risk management systems
- Design, develop, and deliver new features and systems for our automated weather risk management platform
- Conduct financial risk analysis, define pricing terms, and execute (trade) weather contracts with clients and counterparties
- Research and develop future pricing algorithms and models, based on proprietary statistical and meteorological research
- Ideally, manage our team quantitative team
