Software Engineer
We are looking for a superstar Software Engineer to join the team building our groundbreaking online financial products and services for managing weather risk. Candidates will use their strong engineering/analytical skills and personal drive to further innovate and maintain leadership in our new and fast-growing industry.
Your Qualifications:
- Ambitious, driven, and talented individual who wants to work on challenging and potentially world-changing problems

- At least two years of experience developing with Ruby, Python or Java

Quantitative Risk Manager
WeatherBill is looking for a talented and motivated Quantitative Researcher to join our quantitative team in building our real-time pricing and risk management platform, conduct research on statistical, financial, and meteorological topics to further develop our systems and models, and participate in trading and execution of weather contracts with clients. In addition to these core engineering and research efforts, you will work closely with sales, business development, and product teams to spec out future features and manage client-specific research efforts.
This role provides an experienced quantitative finance engineering professional with a new challenge - WeatherBill has built the world's first real-time 2-year forward weather simulation system. The simulation system powers a real-time pricing and risk management platform, that is certainly at the forefront of a burgeoning and unique asset class - weather. We are trying to grow this potentially $3Trillion+ industry by applying technology to enable simpler, faster, more automated and more efficient transfer of weather risk.
Who You are:
- 2+ years quantitative experience, ideally in a financial, actuarial, or statistics role
- Strong analytical/quantitative background or training at a financial services firm, hedge fund, research group, or insurance firm
- Experience developing quantitative systems with at least one of the following: Matlab, C++, R, or Java, SAS/STAT
- Interest in joining a small growing firm that is part hedge fund, part startup
- Graduate from top-tier university, with a degree in math, statistics, physical sciences, or related
- Preferred: Masters or PhD in same
- Preferred: Trading desk experience
- Preferred: Experience managing a team developing trading algorithms or pricing / risk management systems
- Design, develop, and deliver new features and systems for our automated weather risk management platform
- Conduct financial risk analysis, define pricing terms, and execute (trade) weather contracts with clients and counterparties

GM/VP, Agriculture
WeatherBill seeks a GM/VP, Agriculture. This executive leader will play a key role in setting strategy and executing the sales and channel plans in order to achieve specific business unit goals. The position requires intensive interaction with appointed and prospective channel partners, primarily crop insurance agencies.
The ideal candidate will be a seasoned executive with a proven track record of sales management experience in a channel-oriented Agriculture products organization, preferably crop insurance.
This role represents a rare opportunity for a senior leader to play a significant role in a high-growth early-stage company. The position offers significant responsibility and financial upside.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Determine sales strategy and resource allocation to realize company objectives
- Drive sales growth by setting specific business unit targets, measuring progress and holding team accountable to results
- Establish overall channel account growth strategy and establish key initiatives to maximize partner engagement and sell-through
- Recruit, hire, and manage expanding agriculture sales team members. Management includes establishing productivity metrics, quota setting and territory management
- Work closely with WeatherBill Product and Marketing functions to develop product roadmap, channel training programs, and communications activities across all strategic channels
- Deliver market/client data to Marketing to facilitate product development based on market demand and client direction
- Communicate and reinforce sales compensation incentive plan and provide input to ensure incentives are aligned with company goals
Skills
- 10 or more years experience in senior sales leadership positions in a channel sales oriented Agriculture products company, preferably crop insurance
- Extensive knowledge of production agriculture
- Experience leading and developing sales teams
- Strong selling, relationship and consultation skills
- Strong understanding of sales processes and methodologies, territory design, quota management and sales compensation
- Solid understanding of the principles of risk management
- An understanding of agricultural price risk management would be helpful
- Ideally, extensive experience managing insurance agency relationships and developing agency partner programs
- Ideally, an understanding of insurance law and regulatory compliance requirements
- Exceptional interpersonal, verbal, written, and presentation skills
- Bachelor’s Degree required; Master’s Degree preferred

Mathematical Climatologist - climatology experience not required -
WeatherBill's Math Team is looking for a mathematician to join their team to help tackle a variety of interesting problems including the development of probabilistic climate models, application of statistical techniques to improve short range weather forecasts, pricing of unique financial instruments and much more.
You:
- Enjoy thinking outside the bell-curve
- Have experience with numerical software such as R, Matlab, Mathematica
- Thought (even briefly) that you had a shot at the Netflix Prize
- Earned an advanced degree from a reputable university
- Believe names such as Cholesky, Markov and Kolmogorov are commonplace
Pluses:
- Mastery of a programming language such as Python, Java, or Ruby
- Experience managing a small team
